It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
